Ethan has reached 1 year from diagnosis ! There have been some
scary moments along the way, but he has made it !
The past several days have been eventful for Ethan. Thanks to
Tom & Karen, Ethan has some new videos to view. Ethan was
even able to get out a softly spoken "thank you". He again has
received more mail than the rest of us. He received a text message
and a post card from Karen while she is in Minnesota. He received
a card from Dave & Wendy in Tennessee, and a card from his
special friend "Ducky" at CHLA.
Ethan has been increased from two hospice visits a week to three.
Lucky for us his nurse (Marta) is super good at what she does and
Ethan and family are always happy to have her stop by. Ethan
continues to struggle against his DIPG, and maintain a smile and a
laugh for the rest of us. He has lost more weight, he is now down to
42 lbs / 19 kg. I have teased him that he is giving his weight to me,
and I do not need it. This gets a laugh and if I am too close a swat.
At the bottom of all these blogs there is a comment area that is
only visible to us (Ethan and Papa). Ethan got a comment from a
viewer in Germany - WOW ! If any of you want to tell Ethan
words of encouragement, please do and let us know where you
are from. This really excites him as we read the comment and look
at the map to see where you are.
Our thanks to everyone for their prayers, support, and words and
messages of encouragement. Thanks to all of you.
Hi Ethan! My name is Rita and I am a teacher friend of your grandpa. I have been reading about you for long time and I just want to tell you that I think you are a reallly funny kid!! You have made my day many times. Thank you! You are so funny. I especially have enjoyed looking at your adventures through your pictures. They are so COOL!! I am praying for you and your family. Love, Rita P.S. I actually met your grandpa when all the hair on his head was jet black. Ha Ha, are you laughing?
ReplyDeletePlease tell Ethan I heard him when he said "Thank you." Many times, just since then, I have seen people too busy or thoughtless to say "Thank you" when they might have. Each time I think, "I wish they could be as polite as Ethan." I gave Ethan some videos. He gave me a timeless moment. I know whose gift was greater. Please tell Ethan: Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Ethan! Long time no see! hahahaha! I hope grandma didn't cook you too long today! The best part of my day is when I come see how you are doing. Everyone always asks me, "how is Ethan doing?" I tell them my boy is hanging in there. Hanging with his family, not from a tree or anything like that! Tell grandma I LOVVVVVED the 'turtle' she gave me and that I ate it all up! Maybe next time I will try eating a lizard? No, just joking with you. kisses my boy and I will see you in a couple of days. marta
